Imagine you are Lindsay Lohan and you are watching this stupid ad:
Do you think you'd end up trying to sue E-Trade for $100 million? $100 million?!?
Yes, the Lohan claims that the ad invokes her "likeness, name, characterization, and personality" without permission, violating her right to privacy, so she's suing for $50 million in compensatory damages and an additional $50 million in exemplary damages.
I'll let this go. It must be sufficiently humiliating to admit that she sees enough of herself in that baby to deserve that amount of money in damages ... like she was going to get $100 million in offers if that ad hadn't aired. Unless, of course, she's just desperate for the cash because she's self-funding the production of the 3-D extravaganza, "I Still Know Who Killed Me."
In other news of people being highly creative, The Royal Opera House has has announced that they will host the world premiere of an opera about the life of stripper-turned-model/actress Anna Nicole Smith. If you're worried that this production just might be a little tasteless, rest assured that the writer, Richard Thomas—also the co-creator of Jerry Springer: The Opera—says that the opera will end with Smith's death rather than the subsequent court battle over the disposal of her remains and the custody of her daughter.
The Royal Opera House says that this will be "a major event in the UK arts calendar."
Have a great weekend, and remember that if you just continue working hard, your work will speak for itself. Of course, it would probably be a bit easier to take you seriously if you didn't spell your name with a dollar sign.
