Tragic Kingdom/No Doubt
Growing up in the Anaheim in the shadow of Disneyland (hence the punning title), No Doubt had released two indie albums before they got caught up in the post-grunge interest in all things Orange County. With just the right mix of third-wave ska, punk and pop (not to mention Gwen Stefani’s good looks), the album sold more than 10 million copies and produced an astonishing SEVEN singles (yes, 50% of the songs on the album were hits), this standard studio album almost qualifies as a greatest hits record, too.
If You Like That:
Some related sounds are Sublime’s Greatest Hits album, We Started Nothing by the Ting Tings and for that California feel, some Beach Boys.
