The Downward Spiral/Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor maintains that when he rented the French--style mansion at 10050 Cielo Drive in Beverly Hills to build the studio to record this album, he had no idea of the house’s history. It was there on August 9, 1969, that the first of the Manson Family murders took place, which included the stabbing death of actress Sharon Tate, who was 8 ½ months pregnant. No wonder The Downward Spiral has such a dark, disturbing and sometimes painful vibe. Even Trent couldn’t handle it and moved out in late 1993, taking only the front door with him as a souvenir.

If You Like That:

Some Marilyn Manson songs were recorded in the same house. Might as well get some of his CDs, too.
