Dilana from CBS' Rockstar Supernova has also joined this project, but I decided to go with this press release:
Sacramento, Calif. – December 14, 2009 – Tea Stain Clothing is excited to announce the addition of Knoxville-based 10 Years to the line-up of musicians supporting the Music Fashion Project. Launched on August 1, 2009, the Music Fashion Project aligns well known musicians with Tea Stain Clothing to raise money for music-related charities. Members of 10 Years have chosen to support The Joy of Music School from their hometown of Knoxville, TN.
Through the sale of each of 10 Years designated t-shirts a portion of the proceeds will go directly to The Joy of Music School which gives children the opportunity to learn music who would otherwise go without. Lessons come free and include programs such as general music class, music theory class, choral/voice, instrumental strings, instrumental piano to name a few as well as a summer camp offering a wide variety of music experiences. “On behalf of the hundreds of kids whose lives are changed through music, and who would otherwise do without, I thank 10 Years for their generosity as well as the Music Fashion Project for launching a project that supports music-related programs such as ours,” commented Francis Graffeo, The Joy of Music School Executive Director. “It’s inspirational for our students to know that they are supported by professional, performing musicians. These kids are deprived of a lot of things, but not music, thanks to supporters like 10 Years!”
10 Years, known for their provocative approach to songcraft, 2005’s near-platinum Autumn Effect unleashed one of 2005-2006’s biggest rock radio hits with the mythic single “Wasteland.” The iconic song not only set career highs for the band (certified gold along with the album’s other hit, “Through The Iris”), it reigned for more than a year on US rock charts, notching the #4 year-end spot on the Active rock chart, and eventually pulling off a hat-trick of #1 citations at Active rock, Alternative rock, Billboard’s Modern rock chart and scoring across-the-board video support and MTV recognition. Division's seminal hit "Beautiful" also became a video classic, taking a wry swipe at the media circus surrounding celebrity journalism. Universally praised for their grassroots touring regimen, past sold-out treks with Korn, Mudvayne, Sevendust and many others have sealed their reputation as one of the rock world’s most formidable band of road warriors. Formed in 2002, the longtime friends gained notoriety with their independent release Killing All That Holds You, signing on with Universal Records in 2005. Fans can friend 10 Years here.
The project is web based and every band’s feature is completely sharable. “This is the next generation of social media and web based marketing. We wanted to make a difference and make it easy to spread the word,” says Devin Hajek, Tea Stain Clothing founder and designer. “Even if someone isn’t able to spend money on a shirt, they can still support their favorite band/charity by simply clicking ‘share’. From there, they have the option to email their friends or post it on their myspace, facebook and a host of other social networking outlets. These exclusive shirts are extremely affordable, retailing for just $19 and for every 10 shirts that are sold, we are giving away autograph pictures from the selected bands.”
Current participating bands include Theory of a Deadman, Papa Roach, Halestorm and Fallbrooke. The project also features some bands ‘on the verge’ like Framing Hanley and Lovehammers featuring Marty Casey from CBS’ Rock Star INXS. To contribute to the project, fans simply purchase their favorite band’s selected charity style. Tea Stain Clothing takes care of the rest by donating a portion of the proceeds directly to that band’s specified charity.
About Tea Stain Clothing
Unsatisfied with loud, over the top clothing, Tea Stain took a stand. Their goal is to create clothing that is simple and classic. Tea Stain believes clothing should not distract from what is most important... the person wearing it. The company provides shoppers with chic alternatives to the frenzied designs that dominate the marketplace.
