Indie rock band and Supernova.com artists Columbia are about to start their first American tour, less than a year since joining the Supernova.com powered Vancouver Seeds Indie Talent Competition. The band will kick off the tour at Supernova.com’s Halloween Break Your Band show, headlining a night of new indie Battle of the Bands competition.

Since first breaking onto the scene via Supernova.com and the CFOX 99.3 Seeds competition, Columbia has enjoyed industry praise and media attention. Having just signed a management contract with Thorny Bleeder Records, the band is on the fast track to fame – making Supernova.com’s Halloween Break Your Band event one of the last times to see Columbia before they burst onto the U.S. scene!

Fans will have the opportunity to see Columbia at the intimate Tom Lee Mega Store in Vancouver B.C. on October 31st, with a massive costume contest, prizing give away, and indie Battle of the Bands competition. Columbia, who headline the event, will play this one last Canadian date before hitting the U.S. on tour.

Beginning in Washington and moving down the West coast, Columbia have scheduled and incredible 17 shows in November! The boys have promised to share lots of video blogs and will be doing plenty of radio and TV spots on tour. Once they make their way through the U.S., introducing American indie fans to their upbeat alt rock, they will land back in B.C. for a massive ‘Welcome Home’ show at The Roxy. Fear not Canadian fans, the band plans a full tour of Canada in March 2010, starting with Canadian Music Week!

Having only set out on this ‘musical adventure’ a few years ago, Columbia couldn’t be happier with their newfound success. They’re looking forward to showing all their fans and supporters from Supernova.com and CFOX 99.3 a great time this Saturday. The Halloween Break Your Band event is an excellent chance to join Columbia’s ride – grab a costume and come see these Canadian indie sensations before they go on tour!

5 Songs You Gotta Hear Today
  1. Pennywise

    One Reason

Pennywise's forthcoming tenth album will be their first without vocalist Jim Lindberg. This track is from their ninth album.

Sounds like Bad Religion, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat
  2. Four Year Strong

It Must Really Suck to Be Four Year Strong Right Now

Catchy pop punk band that's burned through more than half a dozen members in its nine year existence.

Sounds like Polar Bear Club, Rise Against, Sum 41
  3. Riverboat Gamblers

    Victory Lap

From the Texan punk band's appropriately titled 2009 album, Underneath the Owl.

Sounds like Cobra Skulls, The Loved Ones, Dillinger Four
  4. Tip The Van

    Cherry Red

Ska-loving Connecticut rock band with six members—three women, and three guys named Brian.

Sounds like No Doubt, but with more guts.
  5. ICanMakeAMessLikeNobodysBusiness

You're Not So Good At Talking Anymore

The World We Know, the band's first album in six years, is part of a three-album set that will all be released by the end of the year.

Sounds like person L, Copeland, Ace Enders & A Million Different People
