There’s a famous story from back in the 70s where Led Zeppelin was refused entry into Singapore because their hair was too long. The government considered them a threat to the morality of the country’s youth, so they weren’t even allowed off the plane.
Singapore has lightened up a bit since, but next door in Malaysia, they’re still a little uptight. When Linkin Park applied to start an Asian tour in Kuala Lampur, they had to receive government permission.
They got it–but only if they promised to adhere to the government’s strict code of "artist performance ethics." They included the following conditions: no swearing; no sexually provocative actions (which includes wearing short pants and the removal of shirts) and–and this is the best–no jumping around or screaming onstage. No screaming? At a Linkin Park show?
