The Creed Reunion

Posted by: Alan Cross | Nov 17 2009 12:00AM

In the late 90s, Creed was one of the biggest bands in North America. They were selling tens of millions of albums and were selling out huge concerts. But starting in about 2001, the wheels really started coming off.

They were mocked publicly by Blink 182, Limp Bizkit and the Offspring. There was a show in Chicago where singer Scott Stapp was so out of it that a class action suit was filed by some fans. There was a fight with members of 311 in the lobby of a Baltimore hotel. A sex tape featuring Stapp and Kid Rock was leaked.

There was a car accident and a public drunkenness arrest at LAX while he was leaving for his honeymoon. Plus there were all kinds of alcohol and prescription drug issues. Scott says he bottomed out on November 18, 2006 and to remind him of the lowest point in his life, he has a tattoo of that date on his arm. Will Creed be able to rehabilitate their image? We’ll see.
