Joe Pernice was part of the Pernice Brothers, a gentle alt-rock band who recorded for the Sub Pop label. Joe has now written a book called It Feels So Good When I Stop and if you’re into music-based novels like Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity, chances are you’ll like this one.
It tells the story of a 25 year-old musician who bails on his wedding and his dead-end job to figure out what he’s supposed to do with his life. Joe is the latest musician to try his hand at writing. Mark Everett from the Eels has a very good book called Things the Grandchildren Should Know, which is essentially a touching autobiography. And if you want something a little drier, Krist Novoselic, bass player for Nirvana, has a book on electoral reform called Of Grunge and Government: Let’s Fix This Broken Democracy.
