Young Artists for Haiti Announce Release Date for Charity Anthem

Posted by: Adam Morrison | Mar 9 2010 12:00PM

More than 50 young Canadian stars gathered in Vancouver’s The Warehouse Studio last month to record a new version of K'naan's "Waving Flag" in aid of the earthquake victims in Haiti.

The project, called Young Artists for Haiti, is spearheaded by producer Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Kiss, Pink Floyd) and K'naan.

The song and video will be available wherever digital music is sold beginning this Friday at 12:00am ET. All proceeds from the sale of the single will go to Free The Children, War Child Canada, and World Vision Canada in support of their on-the-ground efforts in Haiti.

“I'm honoured to have experienced the soulful energies of so many talented individuals who contributed their voices and expertise to ‘Wavin’ Flag’," says K’naan. “The unity and spirit of everyone involved in the recording reminds us that we all share in the responsibility to help. We can’t let the situation in Haiti fall off the public’s agenda.”

You can find out more on the Young Artists For Haiti Facebook page, and all the latest updates will be there as well.
