We Will Remember Them with Mark Knopfler

November 11, 2009.  A tribute to those brave and selfless men and women who sacrificed so much, and so much to our benefit.

They are still sacrificing.   Some great people among us always will.

We will remember them, with a little help from the legendary Dire Straits founder, a honourable man himself - Mark Knopfler.

Enjoy,

Jeff.

My parents were liberated by Canadian soldiers in Holland. They will never forget, nor will I.

Jeff Woods: Gracias.

We will remember them.A lot of people out this way will also remember the a-hole punks that tagged the Veterans memorial with a swastika. The night before the ceremony.Same punks that will cry brutality or some other BS to lighten their sentences(if caught). If it wasn't for these veterans stepping up i'm sure the world would not be as nice as it is

Jeff Woods: Indeed, on all counts.

Each Remembrance Day, no matter what I'm doing or wherever I am, I make it a special point to tune into the Q at 11am for the annual tribute. Nothing gives me chills like the Flounders Field poem, the 2 minutes of silence and then "Brothers In Arms" (with the exception of Psychedelic Psunday, but "Imagine" is no slouch, either). Thanks to all the troops, past and present, who have fought to make this country the greatest place to live in the world. Peace

Jeff Woods: I remember years ago having to fight with a boss over playing that Dire Straits gem. Logic prevailed, thankfully. How luck we are to live in Canada, you are so right. Cheers Mike.
