The sleevless wonder. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. Nominated for 2009 induction, he got in a couple months ago, the April ceremony found him inducted by his good friend and fellow former Yardbirds guitarist, Jimmy Page.
As you may well know, Jeff Beck was one of the three noted guitarists — the third having been Eric Clapton, to have played with The Yarbirds.
Beck was ranked the 14th on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
A ton of Beck's music has been instrumental, ranging from blues, rock and jazz, typeically critically acclaimed.
He's bagged four Grammy's for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Granted, he's not been able to establish and maintain the commerical success enjoyed by other guitar heroes, but who cares. He's a legend that sounds unlike anyone else. OK, maybe a little David Gilmour-ish.
